For the film director and writer Anthony Minghella, it is the cinema of Italy that is closest to his heart. "It is my well," Minghella says. "I always go to Italian films to be replenished." So when his friend, the chef Antonio Carluccio, asked him over dinner to help select a season of Italian films, he simply scribbled some titles down on a napkin.
