Many schools mark progress

Last week, Mountain View Elementary Principal Joe Negron and his 44 teachers celebrated around a large chocolate cake with three letters written on it: AYP. The letters stood for ''Adequate Yearly Progress'' but the celebration stood for three years of struggle at the north Phoenix school to pass the tough federal standards.
