Manuel has more reform plans up his sleeve for financial services

The statement of intent to pay reparations of almost R3 billion that Finance Minister Trevor Manuel has wrung out of the life assurance industry is only one step along the way to more reforms. The deal between the life assurers and Manuel is intended to partly make good on the billions of rands the industry has confiscated from policyholders and retirement fund members.
