Prairie Meadows jockeys liked the racing surface Saturday, and so did Beau Watch. Beau Watch, ridden by Alex Birzer, overtook Candybedandy at the top of the stretch and powered her way to a 61/2-length victory in the $40,000 Central Iowa Stakes. A night earlier, Birzer was explaining why jockeys said a dip in the racing surface made conditions unsafe to ride, forcing cancelation of four thoroughbred races. On Saturday, he said the surface was fine.
