Tourism board for Bahrain

Bahrain is to set up an independent tourism board in a bid to boost visitor numbers according to a senior government official cited by Gulf News. The new Tourism Development Board will be required to devise an effective marketing strategy and improve promotional campaigns. Until now, the Ministry of Information had overseen the tourism sector; last year, around 5m tourists, mostly Gulf based families, visited Bahrain. [AMEInfo.com]
