Muslims celebrate Eid with devotion

New Delhi, Nov 4 : Muslims across India celebrated Eid, the end of the fasting month of Ramzan, with devotion Friday, but the festivities were subdued in parts due to the terror bombings here and the monster quake in Kashmir. The day began early with a ritual bath and elders and children donning new clothes. After a quick breakfast - that included a sweet to symbolise the end of Ramzan, everyone headed for the nearest mosque to offer namaz. That over, people greeted each other by embracing thrice, attended inter-faith camps and exchanged sweets with their relatives and friends. In the evening, the elders dined together while the children attended Eid camps where they frolicked on swings and other rides before tucking into a variety of fare on offer. "There are two aspects to observing Eid - the traditional part and the personal part," explained Moulvi Mouzzam Ahmed, naib imam of the Fatehpuri Jama Masjid here that witnesses the city's large congregation.
