Statin drugs taken immediately after heart attack halve death risk: study

Statin drugs, if administered to heart attack victims immediately, decreased mortality by almost 50 per cent by reducing heart-muscle inflammation that follows an attack, a study has said. These drugs are generally prescribed for lowering cholesterol levels and decreasing the risk of future cardiac disorders.
