7th Sep 2005, 16:37 GMT
InfoWorld - Users of cellular devices, especially in sunny regions, should like this gadget: a solar charger to recharge batteries while working or playing outdoors. Vodafone Group, Europe's largest mobile phone company, is launching its solar charger for wireless devices in Portugal, after introducing the product in the Netherlands and Greece earlier this year, the company said Tuesday. The solar charger comes in a small, flat box, which contains a solar collector when opened. The device can be used to recharge Vodafone mobile phones and wireless PDAs. Charging time in direct sunlight is between two and three hours. Pricing information was not available. The solar charger is part of Vodafone's initiative to develop environmentally-friendly products, the company said.
