UN peacekeeping chief recommends boosting AU troops in Darfur

The United Nations peacekeeping chief proposed a three-step plan on Tuesday to beef up the understaffed, poorly equipped and cash-strapped peacekeeping force of the African Union (AU) in Darfur, a conflict-plagued region in west Sudan.
