IIT board clears 60% cut off for JEE from 2006

The joint advisory board of the Indian Institutes of Technology on Saturday formally cleared a proposal to allow only students with a first division in plus II exams to appear for the IIT joint entrance exams. The cutoff, to be applicable from the 2006 session, would be 55% for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates. The meeting was attended by directors of all the seven IITs and the joint secretary in the ministry of human resource development.
