Filed under: Drama, Industry, OpEd, Video, HBO I can picture the watercooler conversations at offices around the nation: "Did you see The Sopranos last night?" "No." "Let me show you on my phone." "Dude, (insert character name here) got whacked!" Cingular Wireless and HBO inked a multi-year deal to make video clips of television shows available to certain customers. So far, we only know that the agreement includes clips from The Sopranos, but current and future HBO shows are bound to be included in this deal. Cingular is going to use the video clips as a selling point for a high-speed, wireless network that is launching in 100 cities next year. While Cingular is the largest wireless operation in the U.S., it's a little behind on its high-speed wireless network and funky options (like music or video downloads). The deal between Cingular and HBO may also cripple plans in the works by Sprint to make video from cable available on the phone. Read Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
