In recent weeks, most Western countries have been approaching the Palestinians and the Iranians with condemnations and ultimatums. But in stark contrast with this hard-line policy approach, Russia has been pressing ahead on the path of dialogue. Shortly after the Hamas' surprise victory in Palestinian elections, the United States and Europe threatened to withhold aid money unless the party denounced violence and recognized Israel.
