Fresh forces head to Afghanistan.
3rd Dec 2005, 16:05 GMT
A new contingent of defence personnel is heading to Afghanistan on Saturday morning to replace the New Zealand-led reconstruction team working in Bamyan province. A defence force spokesman Lieutenant Commander Andrew Lincoln says the 94-strong team will mainly work on maintaining security and stability in the region. He says tasks will also include assisting with reconstruction and training both the Afghan national army and the police force. However, Lincoln anticipates that the high altitude and the winter conditions in Bamyan at this time of year, could make their job difficult.Source:One News
