MacGyver Tip: Stop itchy bug bites with nail polish
13th Nov 2006, 21:12 GMT
CSI's Gil Grissom claims (in an old episode of the show I watched last night) that clear fingernail polish is the way to stop an itchy chigger bite. On my stories, Grissom says the fingernail polish will seal the bite off from the air, which will somehow keep the bite from itching. After a little morning-time Googlin', I can't find any definitive answers one way or another on the chigger-fingernail polish solution, but many people swear by this trick (some claim results for all kinds of itchy bites, but in general people prescribe the nail polish for chigger, or harvest mite, bites). If you've got any experience with the fingernail polish solution, or you have your own homegrown tips for stopping the itch, share it in the comments. — Adam Pash
