It’s not just a walk in the park. As they make their pledges today and don their special T-shirts, participants in the First Ladies’ Walk for Life can be proud that all those pink ribbons are helping to make a difference in the fight against breast cancer.New diagnoses of breast cancer are leveling off and death rates continue to decline, the American Cancer Society reported in September. When their cancer is caught before it spreads, 98 percent of patients will survive 10 years or more, compared with 80 percent in the 1950s.
