IBM's Blue Gene/L Tops List of Fastest Computers

IBM, the world's largest computer maker, is also the world's fastest computer maker. The company's famous Blue Gene/L, at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, again topped the list of the world's 500 fastest supercomputers. This list will be released Monday at the largest gathering of high-performance computing experts, SCO6, in Tampa, Fla. This is the Blue Gene system's fifth appearance on the twice-yearly Top 500 list, which measures the speed and performance of all the supercomputers in the world.
