Heart patients can reduce stress with art therapy

Art therapists believe the act of making a piece of art allows for physical, emotional, and spiritual healing. Art therapy has been around since the 1930's, yet is not a mainstream therapy for heart patients. Researchers have found art therapy to create certain physiological responses such as the release of stress, decreased heart rate, blood pressure, and respiration changes when a patient is deeply involved in creating.
