THE GAME: Maryland's Darrius Heyward-Bey caught two long touchdown passes to give the Terrapins a 14-0 lead, and Miami blew some opportunities to win before falling 14-13. Sophomore QB Kirby Freeman, making his first career start, threw a fourth-quarter interception to thwart a drive. UM still had one chance, forcing the Terps to punt with just over a minute left, but Bruce Johnson fumbled the punt. Maryland recovered and held on for the win that came days after Hurricanes DT Bryan Pata was slain. His funeral is Tuesday.
