Figures show rise in police crashes

Nearly one in seven high-speed NSW police chases in the year to June ended in a smash, pushing the crash rate from eight to 13 per cent, police figures show.New figures show 284 of the 2,146 chases in 2004-05 ended in a crash - 102 more than the previous year, despite the number of chases dropping from 2193, The Sydney Morning Herald reported.
