If You Live In California

9th Nov 2005, 20:46 GMT

You know what to do. Today is Take Back The Government Day. Those who work for us — and are sworn to serve us — now control us. They own the legislature like a farmer owns a pig. They write their own paychecks. They retire at 50 — usually at a 100% salary. They borrow from our children and promise never to pay the bill. They lie. They cheat. They steal. They’ve turned democracy into the very thing the Founders feared — a conspiracy of a few against the interests of the many. We haven’t had a competitive race for a legislative office here since the legislature began picking their own voters a decade ago. The parents don’t rule the schools of their children, the union does. The citizens don’t rule the firehouses or police stations, the union does. It’s a sick system and it’s bankrupting the state — tens of billions in debt piled upon pile — money shoveled to union retirees, with an IOU sent to your children and grandchildren. Yes, a sick system. A broken system. A corrupt system. The Founders held that a “democracy” of this sort is nothing other than another form of tyranny. Politicians in this state admit that they routinely vote against the interests of their voters — and override that interest in favor of what the union tells them to do. It happens again, and again, and again. And it can’t go on like this forever. The state will go into bankruptcy. The judges will take control of the state. Public services will be slashed — everyone will be damaged. Everyone, that is except the fat and happy retired California government union members who will continue to live in their ranch estates in Idaho, retired at 50 at 100% of full salary, eating lobster for dinner, driving a gold-plated SUV, and sending the bill to your kids.
