Govt launches defence of welfare reforms

The employment department has launched a spirited defence of welfare to work reforms, which have come under fire from Labor, church and community groups.The department produced details of safeguards and jobs research on the final day of Senate hearings into the reforms to counter claims that parents and the disabled would be disadvantaged by the changes.
