Family project: create a map showing hometowns of sports teams
8th Sep 2005, 16:58 GMT
A clever idea for teaching U.S. geography in a fun and unique way that gets kids involved is to create a map which shows the hometowns of their favorite sports teams. This month’s Family Fun magazine details a mom who did this for her six- and nine-year-old children. She enlisted their help in printing and cutting out logos of their favorite hockey, baseball, football, and basketball teams and they glued them to a large map of North America. Now her kids recognize the states and play trivia games about where teams are located (which states have the least/most teams, etc.). Pretty cool if you ask me.
