Iraqi, U. S. Security Forces Repulse Insurgent Attacks

American Forces Press Service WASHINGTON, Jan. 20, 2006 – Iraqi and U. S. security forces repulsed attacks on military bases in Ramadi, Iraq, today about 100 kilometers west of Baghdad, officials reported. The attacks by insurgents were a combination of small arms and mortar fire, and coincided with the Iraqi government's announcement of results from the first democratic election under the new constitution.
