Vicar jailed after refusing to pay 'unfair' council tax

A retired Church of England clergyman has been jailed for 28 days today for refusing to pay what he called an 'unfair' rise in his council tax. The Rev Alfred Ridley brandished his toothbrush outside court as he said he was ready for jail in protest over rate rises of 76 per cent in just 10 years
