Chris Lofton scored 30 points, and No. 25 Tennessee survived a sloppy game to beat Fordham 78-71 Monday night in the opening round of the NIT Season Tip-off. The Vols (2-0) will play the winner of North Carolina-Wilmington-Belmont in the second round of the Nashville Region on Tuesday night for the chance to advance to the semifinals in New York.
