Researchers create artificial compound eye based on insect eyes in laboratory

BERKELEY, California - A team of scientists at University of California, Berkeley has successfully created powerful artificial eyes based on the compound eyes of insects like dragonflies and houseflies. Scientists' hope that these eyes can eventually be used in cameras that are deployed for security purposes since they can scan a wider field than was possible before.
