FIGHTING IN EASTERN AFGHANISTAN LEADS TO TALIBAN DEATHS

General Murad Ali, the deputy Afghan army commander for Paktika Province, said that recent fighting in the province may have resulted in the deaths of up to 60 militants, but acknowledged that only 20 deaths are confirmed, AP reported on November 12. Ali claimed that air strikes and artillery destroyed two trucks carrying Taliban rebels in the Bermel district, possibly killing up to 40 fighters.
