Orb set to compete with YouTube on mobile video
16th Nov 2006, 21:02 GMT
Filed under: Cellular, Software, Applications Orb Networks -- that video-streaming company extraordinaire -- will be expanding its MyCasting service to mobile phones soon. Orb will allow the streaming of videos from YouTube, Google Video and other Internet video sites directly to your mobile phone. Sweet. Orb's MyCasting Mobile will automatically transcode videos on-the-fly when requested, including changing the bitrate, screen resolution and other details to fit the particular mobile phone making the video stream request. This will pump up the mileage YouTube will have to beat when it launches its mobile service reportedly next year. Strike an early victory for Orb. For now.
