Statin drugs not very beneficial

Those individuals who have suffered a heart attack and were treated with a high dose statin drug (the most potent cholesterol-lowering agents) did not have a marked reduction in the intial outcome of a major cardiac event. Giving these lipid -lowering drugs called statins has become a standard treatment for heart patients with coronary heart disease, as is diet and excersise counseling, which has been seen as the best preventative for recurent cardiac events.
