Vaughan still in doubt for second test

England's injured captain Michael Vaughan did some light training Monday, but it was still unclear if he would lead the side in the second test against Pakistan. "He (Vaughan) did some batting practice and some light running, but it's too early to say whether he will be fit for the second test," team spokesman Andrew Walpole said. Vaughan twisted his right knee during a warm-up game last week in Lahore and was ruled out of the ongoing first test at Multan Cricket Stadium. Vaughan said Saturday - the first day of the current test - that there was a "slight chance" he could make the second, in Faisalabad beginning Nov. 20. "If not I will have to disappear, but I am going to give it my best try next week," he said. Marcus Trescothick was leading the team in Vaughan's absence - and hammered 193 runs in England's healthy first innings of 418, in reply to Pakistan's 274. Trescothick will lead England in the remaining two tests and five one-day internationals if Vaughan fails to recover. Vaughan injured his right knee when he sprinted for a run and fell. A similar injury kept him out of the first test against New Zealand at Lord's last year. (AP)
