Stop cross-border terrorism, Delhi tells Musharraf

9th Jan 2006, 09:02 GMT

New Delhi: Rejecting Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf's proposal of withdrawing troops from Jammu and Kashmir, India on Saturday asked him to fulfill his commitment to stop cross-border terrorism "unconditionally" and stop "dictating" to New Delhi on its "sovereign" right to deploy troops within its territory. "The Pakistan president has repeatedly given solemn assurances that no part of the territory under Pakistan's control would be used for any cross-border terrorism against India. The implementation of this commitment is unconditional," external affairs ministry spokesperson Navtej Sarna said. He said this in a late night briefing to reporters on Musharraf's controversial interview to journalist Karan Thapar. Sarna, however, added that a fuller response will be given after the interview is broadcast on CNN-IBN last night.
