Cole the fall guy in Owen's return

The Football Association ordered the cameras be turned from the pitch, the television studio in the corner of the ground to be emptied and every corner of the ramshackle Windsor Park to be swept for spies. The latest Sven Goran Eriksson master-plan involves the reinstatement of Michael Owen in place of Joe Cole, but ahead of tonight's match against Northern Ireland it was a strategy he wanted to keep private.
