(AP) - Franz Muentefering, chairman of the Social Democrats, leaves a media briefing in the party's headquarters in Berlin Monday, Oct.31, 2005. Muentefering said he would not stand for re-election and might not participate in the next Cabinet after his candidate for a top party post was rejected. Muentefering, who is set to become vice chancellor in a coalition government under conservative Chancellor-designate Angela Merkel, made the statement after the party's executive committee nominated left-wing party member Andrea Nahles for general secretary, rejecting Muentefering's choice, Kajo Wasserhoevel, 43.
