Facing up to the region's environmental challenges

Shortly after a meeting of the Governing Council of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), scheduled to be held in Dubai next week, Klaus Toepfer will step down as executive director of the world's leading environment agency. The former German environment minister is credited with raising UNEP to be a main player in global environmental policies.
