Group works to lessen discrimination against women in political life

Women in Lebanon still suffer from a great deal of discrimination when it comes to actively taking part in political life, according to participants in a conference yesterday.Amani Kabbara Shaarani, the head of the nongovernmental National Committee for the Follow-up of Women's Issues, summoned a number of experts on women's rights to the event to evaluate women's political participation in the controversial 2005 parliamentary elections.
