Heavy Drinking Causes Irregular Heart Rhythm in Men

According to new research in the American Heart Association’s journal Circulation, men who consume 35 or more alcoholic drinks per week are 45 percent more likely to experience atrial fibrillation, an irregular heart rhythm, than men who consume less than one drink per week. Researchers feel that the same probably is true for women, but there were not enough women in the study who were classified as heavy drinkers to make a firm conclusion.
