(Reuters) - Hector Ruiz, CEO of U.S. semiconductor maker AMD, the world's second-largest maker of computer microprocessors after Intel Corp, displays a 300 millimetres wafer as he poses for the media in the eastern German city of Dresden May 17, 2004. AMD, the smaller rival to Intel Corp., scored a hit with its Opteron microchips for business computers and cited strong demand for desktop, laptop and business computer chips. The unit that makes computer memory chips posted a narrower loss from the previous quarter. (Arnd Wiegmann/Reuters)
