The German Research Foundation is planning to establish 12 new Collaborative Research Centres beginning the first of January 2006. The new centers will research a vast variety of subjects including heart attacks, kidney failure, and intelligent safety systems. The research will be conducted by young independent research groups. Transfer Units have been approved for use as well to transfer data, as well as results into the real world for applicable use. The Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation) will fund a total of 270 Collabroative Research Centres, spending a total of €377 million. I am proud (because I have friends who are researchers and nurses in Germany) to express this venture, and can understand the benefits of supporting the independency of young researchers.
