GLOBAL ORGANIC EMISSIONS FROM VEGETATION

14th Nov 2006, 19:19 GMT

The book chapter discusses several aspects of biogenic volatile organic compound (BVOC) emissions from vegetation. It begins with a section on emission measurements that includes a brief history of enclosure and above-canopy flux measurements as well as a discussion of existing databases that keep records of them. The next section covers emission modeling parameters such as agricultural and other vegetation types, foliar density, and phenology. The following section concentrates on isoprene emissions and includes natural and experimental measurement uncertainties, taxonomic relationships in isoprene emissions, and emissions from trees, shrubs, and non-woody plants. The next section broadens to other BVOCs such as terpenes, methanol and other oxygenated VOCs, carbonyls, ethene, and other hydrocarbons. The chapter ends with a section on coarse and fine particle emissions.
