Derek Roy had a goal and two assists as Buffalo continued its dominance of Carolina this season with a 7-4 win at RBC Center. Jochen Hecht had two goals and Thomas Vanek had a goal and an assist for the Sabres, who have defeated the Hurricanes in all three matchups this season. Buffalo has won 10 straight road games to start the season, tying the team record for a single-season set from December 10, 1983 to January 23, 1984. Buffalo defenseman Teppo Numminen, from Finland, played in his 1,252nd NHL game, which is the most in league history by a European- trained player, surpassing the mark previously held by compatriot Jari Kurri. Numminen tallied two assists in the game. His first assist gave him 600 career points. Martin Biron made 31 saves in the game for Buffalo, which has won four straight and five of six. Rod Brind'Amour and Ray Whitney each had a goal and an assist and Cam Ward was shelled for six goals on 33 shots for the Hurricanes, who had won three out of four coming into the game.
