Internet in car now a reality

It is interesting to note that having an Internet connection in mid-air is old hat, while having such a connection in a car is virtually non-existent, unless you count turning on your HSDPA-enabled notebook while driving. TracNet is a system that enables passengers to go online via a vehicle's video screen while doubling up as a portable hotspot which can be taken advantaged of by your notebook. TracNet currently hooks up to Verizon's High Speed Internet connection, so expecting DSL speeds would be foolish at the moment. For $80 a month, it is highly doubtful this will take off quickly. The automotive version of TracNet currently retails for$1,995. Unless you're an Internet addict, you'd best give TracNet a pass until prices drop to a more reasonable level.
