Vodafone Loses Billions
14th Nov 2006, 15:51 GMT
There are two conflicting numbers from The Register, which reports 3.3bn UKD and the International Herald Tribune which says its 5.1bn UKD. Vodafone added 29,000 customers this year but they’re also spending less on their mobiles. Company figures indicate that the average user spends €46.90 a year on their subscription, a drop from €53.10 last year. Italy and Germany are seen as problem markets for Vodafone. But there’s some silver lining: revenue went up 4.1 per cent and earnings before tax at £6.24bn beat forecasts. Vodafone has announced a deal with Yahoo which will make web browsing and calls cheaper for customers and a new technology where customers can call landline-style using a Vodafone phone.
