Preliminary studies show that vaccine can halve rate of prostate cancer spread

The company Onyvax has developed a vaccine which can slow the replication of prostate cancer. Prostate cancer, like cervical cancer, is caused by a virus. The vaccine, which will be applied to patients monthly, will bolster the body's immune system to the point where it recognizes and attacks tumors. Onyvax cautions that the vaccine will not cure cancer. However, it does offer hope for slowing the cancer's progress, particularly among patients who are resistant to hormone therapies.
