My First Job: Tim Smit

Until he stumbled, in both senses, into the overgrown, ghostly gardens of Heligan, Tim Smit was in the music business. He wouldn't have known the Eden Project from a hole in the ground, which is what it was until he came along and turned it into a major Cornish landmark. As a pianist and producer, he had been 10 years in the industry. A single of his was Numéro 1 for 13 weeks in France, being dislodged only by a French version of the same song. He was a producer for Barry Manilow (although that isn't necessarily why he decided to get out of the business...).
