Consumer Prices Climb 0.5%

Consumer prices rose 0.5% in August as energy costs soared. Excluding food and energy prices, the core inflation rate held steady at 0.1%. Jobless claims increased by the largest amount in nearly a decade last week due to Hurricane Katrina.
