Soaring prices and heritage battles: ah, life at the cottage

I was sitting on the screened-in porch the other day, savouring the panoramic view of Lake Joseph that my parents obtained 50-odd years ago for $5,000 -- half the price of the property's annual taxes today -- trying to decide whether or not to cut my toenails. Such are the dilemmas that confront the happily sunburned and stupefied cottager toward the end of his annual vacation. (INSIDER Edition subscribers only)
