The Georgia Legislature on Saturday ratified Gov. Sonny Perdue's call to suspend state gas tax collections through Sept. 30, a move that will save Georgians about 15 cents per gallon at the pump. "You've taken care of business," Perdue told House and Senate members as they ended a five-day, $165,000 special session. "I appreciate it, and I believe your constituents in each and every district are going to tell you thanks when you get back home." The state Senate on Saturday morning voted 50-2 in favor of the bill, which was approved by the House earlier in this week.
