Rowing: Britain's golden girls stun Germans

British women's rowing was raised to the gold standard yesterday by the quadruple scullers Rebecca Romero, Sarah Winckless, Frances Houghton and Katherine Grainger. They beat the Germans by a third of a second in a race which was full of passion, seizing on a small mistake by the most experienced oarswoman in the world and exploiting it.
