Walgreen Q1 Profit Up on Generic Drug Sales

Walgreen, the nation's biggest drugstore chain by sales, said today that profit increased 5 percent in its fiscal first quarter, helped by higher generic drug sales. The drugstore chain earned US$345.6 million, or 34 cents per share, in the three months ended Nov. 30, up from $328.6 million, or 32 cents per share, a year ago.
