DaimlerChrysler decides to trim global workforce by 6,000

BERLIN - DaimlerChrysler announced on Tuesday that it would be downsizing about 6,000 jobs from its global workforce. This move will save the company an estimated $1.8 billion per year. The job cuts were announced by company chief executive Dieter Zetsche in a conference call.
